Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel was a famous German Franciscan sister and artist. She is noted for her paintings which were the basis for Hummel figurines. She was born Berta Hummel on 21st May 1909 in Massing, Bavaria, joined the Order of Saint Francis in 1931 and died on 6th November 1946 in Isny im Allgäu.
