Photos : my 70th birthday (July 2020) and our 50th Wedding Anniversary (August 2021)
In August this year (2023) Sue and I moved to an apartment in Audley Wycliffe Park, a retirement village near Stokenchurch in Buckinghamshire. This represents a new phase in our lives to which we are much looking forward.
Previously……….
Sue and I were born and raised in Bedfordshire (mostly Bedford itself). We went to school in Bedford and to Oxford University. After spending nearly 30 years in Hong Kong, we returned to the UK in 2001 and lived in the delightful Oxfordshire village of Sutton Courtenay, enjoying this view of the countryside behind our house.
Plus ça change
August 2023 - My collection of earlier photographs showing the same constant, but ever-changing rural scene looking west from our house is here.
Our time in Hong Kong, from 1973 to 2001, was a great and life-changing experience. Hong Kong was, and indeed still is, one of the most vibrant cities in the world and surely also one of the most stunning scenically. We left four years after the handover to China in 1997 when I retired from the Hong Kong civil service and the future of the territory still looked promising. So much hope and expectation now hollowed out and overridden….
