A selection of modern postcards, some published by Editions EPHI in Paris and some by the British Library in 1980, showing fashion plates from the Journal des Dames et des Modes.
The Journal des Dames et des Modes lasted only two years (the first issue appeared on 1st June 1912 and the last on 1st August 1914). This stylish periodical was issued regularly three times a month and ceased publication upon the outbreak of the First World War. With its expensive layout, society columns, poetic texts, colourful annotations and fashion reports, it represented the last brilliant refined impulse of a happy and optimistic society in the period known as the 'belle époque'.
