Chiltern Landscapes selection

This album contains the five postcards published by Buckinghamshire County Museum to accompany the exhibition of works by William and Harriet Callow called “Chiltern Landscapes” held at the County Museum from September to December 2000.  The postcards were published together with a short account of the work of William Callow (1812-1908) and his first wife Harriet née Smart (1819-1883).

The pictures are from an album of 82 watercolours by William and Harriet Callow showing views from around their home near Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, over a period of nearly thurty years from 1855 to 1882.  The album was given to the County Museum in 1945 by the sister of Callow’s second wife, Mary Louisa.
