The Oxford Historical Pageant of 1907 was a major civic event that took place in the grounds of Magdalen College School from 27th June to 3rd July 1907.  It was the first such pageant directed by the actor and producer Frank Stevens, self-styled as Frank Lascelles, who went on to become an internationally acclaimed pageant master.

At the centre of the narrative and organisation of the Oxford Pageant was the relationship between ‘town and gown’. Lascelles, describing what were once ‘rival factions’, said that the University and the City had ‘joined hands in the production, and play[ed] side by side for a few brief summer hours in an effort to show as realistically as circumstances will permit some of the picturesque scenes of their common history.’
