Turkey Trot 2017 - Report

Turkey

The TT Roll-up Turkey Trot 2017 was held on the Green course on Tuesday 7th November 2017.

There was a small, but select turn-out of 12 hardy golfers, who believed the Meteorological Office’s assurances that, apart from the odd light shower, any heavy rain would hold off until the competition was over.  This proved to be largely correct (pace the final 3-ball aka the drowned rats).

The course was in good condition, playing easier following the introduction of winter rules on 1st November, and the greens were tolerably fast and very true.

The winner was Mike Walker with 37 pts - just beating Malcolm Thomas, also 37 pts, on countback over the back nine.  Third was Tony Tompkins with 32 pts.  Other scores ranged from 25 to 31 pts.

The proceeds were, after due consideration, shared principally between the winner and the runner-up (35 - 25), with third place receiving his contribution back

It should perhaps be noted that "Frilford’s best putter" should actually have won, because one of his putts had the temerity to lip out, thereby costing him a point he naturally assumed he would obtain.

Be that as it may, all participants had an enjoyable round (at least until the rain arrived in earnest) and shared plenty of healthy banter in the 19th hole afterwards.
