Report of HAGS-UK outing to The Springs
4/5 August 2005
I think we generally agreed that it was a very enjoyable outing to The Springs Hotel & Golf Club. The setting and accommodation were certainly superb and the dinner was outstanding. The golf was quite good too, apart from the yobs on the first day and the thunderstorm on the second day. Nevertheless we managed to complete both rounds and the scoring was pretty respectable.
We were particularly pleased to welcome Eric Wood from the PWDGS-UK group. Hopefully his experience will encourage more PWDGS-UK members to join our next outing; and I am sure some HAGS-UK members will again join the next PWDGS-UK outing.
A table showing the scoring and the prizes awarded on the usual principle of "everyone a winner", which is now the HAGS-UK tradition, is available here.
For next year, when I have again agreed to act as convenor, we discussed possible venues and dates, but - in true HAGS tradition - came to no firm conclusions. It was however suggested that next year we might choose a venue a bit further west (maybe even in S Wales?), and we might also consider a more upmarket (ie expensive) venue like the De Vere Belfry at some time in the future. Early August remains the preferred date, I think.
