PC_HighlandAir

Unused postcard published in honour of the pioneering spirit of Britain’s private airlines.

The design is based on a painting by Edmund Miller called “A Flying Start to the Day”  and depicts the start of a typical day’s flying at Longman Municipal Aerodrome, Inverness in 1937.  It shows Capt R E Fresson OBE (in plus fours at the centre of the group of pilots) briefing his crews at the start of the day as well as other potential passengers and cargo including mail bags delivered by a GPO van.
