Madge Crichton (born Margaret (or Marguerite) Dorothy Wakeford 31 October 1879 – 20 March 1951) was born in Scarborough. When she was 15 in 1894, the Walsall Advertiser on Saturday 7 April mentioned her appearance in a Hardie and Von Leer production of ‘On the Frontier’ that her father, Haldane Crichton, was staging at his theatre; the St George’s Theatre, Walsall. In 1916 she left the UK for the USA, where she lived for the rest of her life.
